good things come to those who shop…

Hi beauties—

My mom emailed me this morning and asked if there was anything specific I wanted for a graduation gift. In high school I asked for a really nice cannon rebel XT camera for graduation. This year, fortunately, I really cannot think of anything that I absolutely need—except for a job and a place to live! But other than that, I really have everything I need and that is a good feeling. I cannot explain how appreciative I am toward my mother. She is one of the most generous women I know! She loves her kids so so much and we love her right back….

Given that there is nothing I need, I decided to think of something I want. Something pretty and special that I wouldn’t normally ask for….

As much as I love love love to shop, I usually only go for clothing and shoes. I am not into designer bags and have never asked for one. I have received some awesome purses for holidays but usually things that others picked out for me and I ended up loving….. again, I am so grateful to be so fortunate.

So I decided to browse around for personalized bags. Something that wasn’t just pretty or designer but had a little intimacy so that I felt that I chose it and my mother felt that I was the only person who had something like this.

I know that Long Champ has an entire website devoted to personalizing their Le Pliage canvas tote bags…. very bright colors and practical for carrying around a lot of things. Tons of girls at my school have them.

*Le Pliage Canvas Totes…..

But I was looking for something a little more authentic and a little more grown up. Something I could carry to work. Something leather and bold, but would still have a personal and fun feeling that was a little more discreet.

Their new line of Le Cabas Leather totes are awesome. Pricy, but awesome. You can choose from an array of colors, Black, Brown, White, Tan, Blue, Clay, Red etc. Then within the bag you can choose a bright color: pink, orange, green butterfly, coral etc. You have four options in the bag size, two options in handle length and then for 10 more bucks you can have your initials on the leather……

*The customizing process….

I fell inlove with this bag immediately. We shall see in about a month if my mother felt the same… either way I thought I would share that great new bag with you!!

*Finished product……

Have a wonderful day!

P.S.— BIG Shoutout to my ENGLISH COMM family!!! Goodluck this weekend! I love you all and will miss you more than you know!!! XOXOX

Puppies > Thesis

I can’t express in words how miserable the past week has made me. I’m sorry, but between a thesis, applying for jobs, deciding where to live for the summer, a research paper, a group project, my stress levels are ridiculously high. I have argued with almost every friend I have over nothing. Fought with my boyfriend over… Nothinggg…

Legit–I’m a crazy bitch this week… so stay away if you can. But want to know what just happened? I smiled. You know, that thing your mouth does when you are happy–I almost forgot what it was like. I smiled because my puppy made the local newspaper for being so f*ing adorable… For Christmas, my family got a new pup, I got to name him. Bentley is a pekingese… He is the CUTEST thing everrr….

Lowell Sun Pets

With this in mind, I felt it important to let you in on a little secret…. There is an entire website devoted to photos of the cutest dogs ever. I don’t care who you are, where you’re from or how miserable you might be…. you cannot tell me that looking at pictures of cute puppies doesn’t make you smile. Here is the site:

The Daily Puppy

If you are stressed, seriously just go to this website, like this weekend for instance when you might be slaving over a terrible assignment, like your 30 page thesis for example.

Here are three of the thousands of photos on the site:

in love: confidence is key

Jealousy is an inherent aspect of our culture.

With the occasional bitch-fight with your best friend or mother, jealousy is most prominent in our relationships with our boyfriends/girlfriends. But why??

Think of the best relationships you have:

Likely with a parent, a best friend, a sibling, a coworker, even a pet, whoever….

Think of how you act toward that person:

Likely confident, secure, interested, mature, compassionate, positive and unconditional….

Think of your relationship with your partner:

Insecure, dramatic, negative, immature? If so, you might want to evaluate this relationship.

Why is it that we treat our significant other so differently than the other people we claim to love? Why do we constantly get jealous? Cause fights? And set standards that are extremely ridiculous just because they are our boyfriend or girlfriend? When in reality, we would not treat our closest friends or relatives in this manner. We know that our mother will love us unconditionally, even if we have a ton of siblings. We don’t accuse our best friend of cheating on us with their other friends. We aren’t likely to flip out on our coworkers for giving us constructive criticism. And we do not expect our sisters to text us back all day in a timely manner. We know these other people are capable of having lives and friends and still love us back. Why, though, do we often set our boyfriends or girlfriends up to fail? Why can’t we maintain that same confidence and security?

I believe it is one of the most important aspects of a relationship to feel secure, exude confidence and use our best judgment as often as possible. I believe this is the key ingredient to love. If you are successful in your friendships and your familyships, then you should introduce those same values into your relationships. The rules of love are the same for each relationship in your life. People want to be trusted, respected and treated as real people, not as property and not as people who owe you something, especially all of their time. Just as you expect your own space and freedoms, as well as trust, the person you date desires these things to. Give and you shall receive.

Seriously, I never thought I would go to school in Rhode Island, nevermind actually think of missing it now that these four years are coming to an end! To tell you the truth, I almost transferred about three separate times when I was a freshmen and sophomore! Can you believe that? Now I barely go home. I have a life here now; I have a whole new group of friends, a boyfriend, a home (rental, but I love it so much), plus I am in Newport, Providence, Cranston and Jamestown at least once a week. I’m like a little RI Native these days. But long before I settled in the ocean state… I was just a good old Boston girl….

Boston Skyline at Night

But as the baseball season starts up I have to admit, my love for Boston still outweighs this tiny little state. The Redsox, Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market etc. I love the feel of the city. It is not so big like NYC that you feel overwhelmed, but not anywhere near as small as Providence. I like the people, the streets, the SHOPPING and the architecture. I love Boston accents!! I love the view of the skyline at night and seeing people walking, running or biking along the Charles River during the day. I love seeing laser shows at the Museum of Science, visiting the Aquarium and the MFA and going to the Charles Play House Theatre to see Blue Man Group! My two all-time favorite things to do are walk Newbury Street with my family and hit the shops then stop at Charley‘s for lunch or go to the Red Sox game with friends or family and get dinner after or go out for drinks! There is just so much to do in Boston and it is 20 minutes from my hometown! Click some of the links provided to check out some of my favorite places (And for the sake of my English 452 Class… I am receiving no compensation for linking these places ;))

Fenway Park (Fenway Pahk* if you’re from here)

The Charles River (You would also drop the ‘r’ in Charles…)

Faneuil Hall at Christmas Time! How Beautiful….

Newbury Street… (Keep that ‘R’ right where it belongs)

If you have yet to visit Boston, I suggest you get there now…. Every season is perfect for visting, but while this gorgeous spring weather is upon us… Get out there!!! Ciao babies XOXO

back in the day…

Hiiii Friends! I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing Easter weekend! I was so happy to see the sun again. I spent as much time as I could outside. I even went for a hike @ Blue Hills in Mass (If you live in the area of Southern Boston or are passing through, definitely check it out–Gorgeous Views, Wear SNEAKERS). Unfortunately I only had flip flops and cut my toes…

…..but I survived and made it back to Quincy just in time for a delicious traditional dinner with my boyfriend’s family! They are amazing. Very Italian. Very loud. But even though the kids are all grown up, everyone still comes home and enjoys Marianne’s cooking since no one has flown too far from the nest…

My family is quite different. My mother spent this Easter in Florida, my brother is living in Brazil and my sister lives in Colorado…. Needless to say, it really sucks on holidays when I don’t get to see them because we are all so close. Last night, at home in Mass, I was looking through an old photo album I found. I decided to scan some of the pictures on to my computer. It’s funny how different life is from the late 80s. Before Facebook, Twitter, Blogs. Just kids running around outside with little supervision and ridiculous outfits….. My grandmother was also alive and a huge part of my life. I spent every weekend with her. She was famous for being tall and skinny, having a huge bee-hive hairdo, and always had jewelry and makeup on that matched her stylish outfits. We called her Bargee and were so close to her growing up. Here are a few pictures from back then…. I hope you enjoy
